Alizarin red S, Practical grade is a yellow-green to dark-red powder used as a dye for textile fabrics. Also used as a chromogenic agent for the colorimetric determination of dothiepin hydrochloride in pharmaceutical formulations. It is used as an ion-pair reagent for the spectrophotometric assay of fexofenadine in pharmaceuticals.
